Smeeth Women’s Institute

The Women’s Institute is for all women, young and those more mature ladies who like to be involved not only in village activities but also in the wider world. Smeeth W.I., which celebrates its 98th birthday this year has been concerned, over each of these years, with offering women the chance to see the world through “wider” eyes and giving them the opportunity of learning about, as well as trying new things.

2016 will be no exception and a full programme has been arranged for our regular monthly meetings which over the next six months will include a look at Life in the Kalahari Desert, hearing about local history when we will have a presentation on the Kent Coal Fields and another session when we will Follow the River Stour from it’s source to the sea, and another when a local auctioneer will tell of her life in the Auction Room. In June we will have a presentation on Ma king Music with Children, which should be fun. Something we hope that will appeal to everyone.

Do come along and try us for a month or two, and see if we can offer you what may have been missing from you life. We meet on the second Monday of the month at the Village Hall at 7.30 and we are sure that you will enjoy it. Details of our monthly programme are given in the Parish News, the Village Website, the Village Directory as well as posters around the village and on the Community Board at Tesco. Lady visitors are always welcome at our meetings and transport can be arranged if necessary. Please contact any member of our 2016 Committee listed below.
